  1. Banasura Sagar Dam

    Banasura Sagar Dam, which impounds the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabini River is part of the Indian Banasurasagar Project consisting of a dam and a canal project started in 1979. The goal of the project is to support the Kakkayam Hydro electric power project and satisfy the demand for irrigation and drinking water in a region known to have water shortages in seasonal dry periods. The dam is also known as Kuttiyadi Augmentation Main Earthen Dam. The dam has a height of 38.5 metres (126 ft) and length of 685 metres (2,247 ft).

  2. Edakkal Caves

    Edakkal Caves are two natural caves at a remote location at Edakkal, 25 km (15.5 mi) from Kalpetta in the Wayanad district of Kerala in India’s Western Ghats. They lie 1,200 m (3,900 ft) above sea level on Ambukutty Mala, near an ancient trade route connecting the high mountains of Mysore to the ports of the Malabar coast. Inside the caves are pictorial writings believed to date to at least 6,000 BCE,from the Neolithic man, indicating the presence of a prehistoric settlement in this region.The Stone Age carvings of Edakkal are rare and are the only known examples from South India besides those of Shenthurini, Kollam also in Kerala.[4]

  3. Karapuzha Dam

    Karappuzha dam, one of the biggest earth dams in the country, is located 13 kms northeast of Kalpetta in Wayanad. This picturesque reservoir contains many small islands scattered around the vast area it occupies. The dam is located near the Karappuzha River, a tributary of the Kabini. The surrounding misty hills and the lush green islands are an ideal breeding ground for many aquatic birds. Situated near the Kakkavayal town, the dam and its serene premises are an ideal leisure spot for holiday lovers to unwind and relax.

  4. Muthanga

    Established in 1973, the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary is contiguous to the protected area network of Nagarhole and Bandipur of Karnataka on the north east and Mudumalai of Tamil Nadu on the southeast. Rich in bio-diversity, the sanctuary is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The management lays emphasis on scientific conservation with due consideration for the general lifestyle of the tribals and others who live in and around the forest region. The Sanctuary has a large population of pachyderms and has been declared a Project Elephant site.

  5. Soochipara Waterfalls

    Soochipara Falls also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls is a three-tiered waterfall in Vellarimala, Wayanad, India. It is surrounded by deciduous, evergreen and montane forests. Locally referred to as Soochipara (“Soochi” meaning “Needle” and “Para” meaning “Rock”), the 15-20 minute drive from Meppadi to Sentinel Rock Waterfalls has views of a number of Wayanad’s tea estates.The Sentinel Rock Waterfalls is 200 metres (656 feet) and offers a cliff face that is used for rock climbing.The water from Soochipara Falls later joins Chulika River or popularly known as Chaliyar River after Velarimala Hills near Cherambadi (Tamil Nadu) in Kerala.

  6. Pazhassi Raja Tomb

    The Pazhassi Tomb is where thousands regularly pay homage to the famous Lion of Kerala, Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja. The tomb was constructed in the place where his body was cremated, and is situated on the banks of River Kabani in Mananthavady.
